A Year of Unprecedented Support and Collective Action
A look back at key highlights from 2023. Part Two.
2023 was a year of unprecedented support and collective action. As we prepare for the new date for the public hearing on Tuesday and Wednesday, 20-21 February, here’s a look back at a year that saw a shift in public awareness surrounding my husband’s case.
A huge part of the gathering momentum has been due to the tireless and consistent initiatives from supporters all over the world. These actions included but were not limited to weekly vigils, flash mobs, performance art as well as meeting their representatives and petitioning for honorary citizenship for Julian. Big or small every protest brings Julian one step closer to Freedom.
Honorary Citizenships for Julian
Italian Supporters spearheaded a multi municipal Honorary Citizenship drive with a tenacity that paid off.
I also went to Reggio Emillio to accept Honorary Citizenship for Julian this year.
Here’s a map of the 100 cities that Italian supporters have created to show the ongoing progress of this initiative:

German supporters have also created a guide for Germany here.
Free Assange Wave coordinated Assange Groups across Europe and Latin America to man tables at the Roger Waters Tours:
A selection of just a few other actions from around the World:
In Germany, Julian was awarded the Konrad Wolf prize, Belmarsh Live was exhibited and more than a dozen events, actions and vigils were organised:
In London, the weekly vigils in Piccadilly Circus, Belmarsh Prison and Australia House were going strong. Plus events and activities were organised all across the UK:
More actions from Italy:
In the USA, Ithaka screened across the country with Q & As with Julian’s father, John Shipton and his brother, Gabriel Shipton. Supporters and activists brought the fight to the Whitehouse and Congress:
We’ve put together a playlist of supporter actions on my YouTube. If you’d like us to include yours, please email us at FreeAssangeEmergencyToolkit@proton.me.
And, finally, huge milestones were achieved in Australia! Read more about them on the Assange Campaign Website here.
Thank you everyone for the hard work and tenacity this year! Let’s keep up the momentum for 2024.
